Theology

I want to be transparent with my beliefs. Here is my faith background and beliefs.

Growing up my family attended a Baptist Church. I loved VBS and Sunday School. When I went to church camp in 3rd Grade the Bible stories I had heard became real. My heart burned with a desire to follow Jesus and I knew I needed to decide to follow Him. I’ve been following Him ever since. I’ve attended Baptist, Presbyterian, non-denominational, Assemblies of God, and C&MA churches. Each one has played a significant role in shaping my faith life today.

One of my favorite unique traditions my family has is doing a “church crawl” on Christmas Eve. We challenge ourselves to visit as many churches as possible for Christmas Eve services. One year we went to 5 different churches in person! Our record is 5 in person one year. We love to experience the beauty and various expressions of the church.

Nicene Creed

Throughout my journey, I've come across different statements of faith and always take the time to read them when I attend a new church. However, as I've grown in my faith, I've realized that my foundational statement of belief lies in Apostles Creed passed down by the church fathers.

I believe in the Statement of Faith provided in the Nicene Creed.

I believe in God,

the Father Almighty,

Creator of heaven and earth,

and in Jesus Christ,

his only Son,

our Lord,

who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,

born of the Virgin Mary,

suffered under Pontius Pilate,

was crucified,

died,

and was buried.

He descended into hell.

On the third day, he arose again from the dead.

He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father.

From thence he shall come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit,

the holy Catholic Church,

the communion of saints,

the forgiveness of sins,

the resurrection of the body,

and the life everlasting.

Amen.”
